Robotic and Videoscopic Thoracic Surgery

Gulf Coast Cardiothoracic Surgery Institute is one of only a few Florida cardiothoracic surgery practices that uses minimally invasive, robotic-assisted and video-assisted surgical procedures. With robotic thoracic surgery, GCCSI’s surgeons perform the procedure using small instruments and robotic devices through very small incisions in the chest. Because the incision is small and the procedure is minimally invasive, the patient can often heal faster and experience less pain after surgery.

With videoscopic thoracic surgery (also called VATS), GCCSI’s surgeons use a thoracoscope – or small videoscope – to guide them via a small incision in the chest.

The minimally invasive robotic and videoscopic surgical procedures offered through GCCSI include completely video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) lobectomy, endobronchial ultrasonography (EBUS), navigational bronchoscopy, minimally invasive esophagectomy, lung cancer resection, spiration pulmonary valve, and DaVinci assisted surgery.

GCCSI patients who choose minimally invasive robotic and videoscopic techniques for their cardiothoracic surgeries can often heal faster and experience less pain after surgery.
